My parents are the missionary ‘Camp Host’ at the Lindon Stake girls camp. So this last weekend, we went up to camp for a few days. It is a really nice place. There are all kinds of things to do:
There are 4 or 5 ponds with canoes at 2 of them. They also have a Zip line……and I even did it. I was freaked out with the height. Chad was at the bottom with the canoe so I didn’t have to fall in the water. Well………I landed in the canoe with absolutely no grace at all and Chad and I BOTH went into the water. BRRrrrrrrr!!! The canoe was full of water, so we had to swim all the way back in that freezing water, pulling the canoe. ( I would have loved to have that on video )
Rock climbing was Kaylors favorite thing. He bawled when we had to stop. Korban, on the other hand, didn’t even try it. He got the gear on, but didn’t dare go up.
At the Obstacle Course, the kids favorite thing ,was the rope swing over a small pool of water, (except for maybe Mishae!) Kaylor was scared to death the first time, but then LOVED it! There was also a rope bridge, and rope climb. There were a couple of other things that I didn’t get a picture of.
We went on a couple different hikes. The first one was around Moose lake, and when we got up higher, we could look down on Heber Valley. My mom and I were taking photos of all the different wild flowers we saw. I’ll give you $100, if you can name all the flowers below!!! NO, Not really! I don’t have an extra $100 laying around, just to give away. But please feel free to name’em if you know’em.
The second hike was around Beaver Lake. We ran into a little stream that went into the lake and let the kids play around in it for a while. Kaylor found mud, and Traven found a caterpillar, which Kaylor is holding in the photo. Oh, and that other kiddo hanging with us, is my nephew. Just so ya know.
On to the Firework show. Well, fake firework show! The real ones aren’t aloud, so we played with GLOWSTICKS instead. On my camera I can leave the shutter open for as long as I want. So I did a little bit of Light Painting with the glow sticks. And the kids had a blast making all sorts of things with the glow sticks. (including bras and panties)
Other things include: Getting buried in the sand, pullin’ faces, visiting, cooking smores, relaxin’, cooking meals, trying to trap a potgut, looking at the bridge my dad made 30 years ago for this girls camp. picking the wild flowers for mom, getting a grandma smack, jumping in the air against the sunset, saying YAY…….this post of photos is over!…………………………………BUT…………………….IT’S NOT OVER! Continue------below!
On the last day, just as we were packing up,………….WE SAW A BEAR! My first thought was that it was a baby, so the mom had to be around, which was a little scary. Then my second thought was to get my camera. I was told it was a yearling, so most likely the mama bear wouldn’t be around. (hopefully) But it was so cool to see this little guy (or girl). It came right in our camp, snooped around and then left. But here is a scary thought: 4 of the kids walked down the same road the bear came in from just minutes before. As they were coming back into camp, Traven was telling us that he saw the bear. He said he got scared and ran. I need to google, “what to do when encountered with a bear!”
Well………there you have it! My HUGE PHOTO POST. All this in 3 days!
Thanks for reading!
